Welcome to Hackforth & Hornby C of E  Primary School

Welcome to Hackforth and Hornby Church of England Primary School. Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site.  We are a small, friendly, rural village primary school, located between Bedale and Catterick Garrison, in the Richmondshire and Hambleton area, we are only minutes from the A1 service road, but enjoy a tranquil setting in beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

Our pupils benefit from a highly personalised rich and varied curriculum in small classes.  Outside, we enjoy the luxury of a spacious outdoor classroom. Already a popular and well used feature, providing a quiet area at play times, it complements our gardening and conservation areas, further enhancing our curriculum provision.  Our outdoor EYFS area has also been improved: colourful teaching boards and new benches ensure that our youngest pupils play safely in an attractive and stimulating learning environment.

We extend our curriculum by encouraging all pupils, including our very youngest, to perform in challenging school plays and festivals, including The Wensleydale Tournament of Song.  PE is an important part of our school life.  We work in partnership with the Amateur Swimming Association and hold the Sainsbury's School Games Mark.  All our pupils, including our youngest foundation stage children swim weekly throughout the year at Richmond Pool.  This ensures that our older infant and junior pupils swim to a very high standard. In school, PE lessons prepare pupils for cluster sports events including gymnastics, tag rugby, cricket, football and netball.

If you would like to discover more about our school, please contact our office manager, Mrs Debbie Gibson on 01748 811698, to arrange a visit during the school day.  We look forward to meeting you.

With very best wishes,

Judy Clarke
